Following a change in his U.S. visa status that derailed a planned internship at Ripple in 2013, Vitalik Buterin redirected his focus towards Bitcoin Magazine.

His involvement there set the stage for the unveiling of Ethereum at BTC Miami in 2014. The enthusiastic reception he received there cemented his decision to drop out of university and fully commit to his vision.

Buterin’s journey with Ethereum, however, was often shaped by external pressures and demands. He recalls instances like his meeting with Vladimir Putin in 2017, which he later regretted, as moments of realization about his evolving role and responsibilities.
